Capital FM is a popualr music radio station whoch plays music from the charts and 
conducts interviews with well knowen celebrities i.e. Taylor Swift. 

Ownership

Capital FM is a subsidary of G cap media aka Global , a conglomerate media company
who owns many other raido stations i.e. Classic FM and Heart. GCap came from the
merger ov Capital Radio Group and GWR, all of these radio stations get news content
from 'Globals News room' which is and eample of vertical intedration and synergy.

Listenership

Acroding to Rajar Capital London now reaches 2.1 million people with a total tuning in
time of 9.8 million hours, which makes Capital breakfast with Roman kemp London's
no.1 commercila breakfast show with it reaching 1.1 million listeners every week
equaiting to 2.4 million hours. The listenership is made up of 40% male and 60% female 
listeners, 58% of listeners are made up of 15-34 year olds.

Funding/advertising

Capital FM is a commercial company that gets funding from running adverts and is also 
sponsered by Coke Zero, these products appeal to thier target audiecne of 15-34 year 
olds. As they are not a public servise provider they can not get money from TV licsense 
fees or taxes to pay for their station like the BBC dose.

Audience

Capital FM's listenership is made up of the 40% male and 60% female listeners, 58% of
listeners are made up of 15-34 year olds, which makes up their main target audiece. 
They target their audience by changong their content and advertising so that it will 
appeal to them by employing theories i.e. ideal partner/ ideal self by having interviews 
with celebrities and having them endorse their station on their radio trails.  

Content

Much of capitals content is made up of mainstream charts music, interviews,
discussions, competitions and adverts this content is targeted towards the main target 
audience. Of 40% male and 60% female listeners, 58% of listeners are made up 
of 15-34 year olds makig mainstream and popular content a nessesity in their 
programing to be able to appeal to a mainstream audiece. 

How people access it

Capital FM can be acssesed on all DAB, internet and digital radio, maobie app, TV. 
Content has been made easier to acsses due to the use of technological convergance 
to make it easier to acsses and makes it available on a wide range of platforms.
